Interfaith Ministries for Greater Houston (IMGH) knew that creating a strong learning culture was key to supporting their team’s development and success.
As a non-profit with a diverse workforce, they had previously relied on other learning platforms to provide training resources. However, engagement was low, with only a handful of employees using their subscriptions.
This approach left some big gaps and challenges on the table:
Using HowNow’s Pathways feature, IMGH created a structured training program for managers. These tailored pathways guided participants through key leadership skills like coaching, conflict resolution, and employment law - breaking it all down into easy-to-follow steps.
The backbone of this program was HowNow+’s extensive content library, with over 10,000 carefully curated learning resources. Alberto García, IMGH’s Learning and Development Coordinator, found that this made it easy to find engaging, high-quality content on topics like time management and public speaking.
“Pathways made it so much easier to create focused and manageable training programs. HowNow’s built-in content library saved me hours when curating relevant resources.” - Alberto García, Learning & Development Coordinator at IMGH.
Alberto introduced creative strategies to keep things fresh and engaging, like monthly spotlights on key topics and themed learning days linked to holidays or organisational goals.
The team also took personalisation to the next level by mapping skills to over 120 job roles. This meant employees could connect their training directly to their career growth, making learning more meaningful and relevant.
“HowNow has allowed IMGH to create a culture of learning, whether as part of a group with shared objectives or individually for personal and professional growth.” - Bonnie Weisman, VP of Human Resources at IMGH.
The results speak for themselves. Since launching the program, IMGH has seen engagement soar. The first cohort of managers achieved a 50% completion rate, and the second cohort raised the bar even higher, hitting an impressive 83%.
Feedback from participants highlighted increased confidence in applying skills like coaching and emotional intelligence. IMGH also observed more collaboration and problem-solving among mid-level managers.
As managers become more engaged, the team has begun to embrace the platform as a tool for growth and collaboration.
By focusing on personalisation, structure, and creativity, IMGH has laid a solid foundation for a learning culture that’s both scalable and impactful. And it’s just the beginning. With a growing focus on aligning skills with roles and long-term goals, IMGH is empowering its team to succeed now and in the future.
